A Magnificent Piece of American Glassmaking History
An exceptionally rare, authentic Steuben Art Glass Handled Tumbler in the highly coveted Jade Green and Alabaster. This Frederick Carder-era piece (circa 1915–1930) is a true museum-quality survivor, matching forms preserved in the permanent collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
The Frederick Carder Post-Retirement Signature is what elevates this piece into an elite tier of collectibility is the hand-engraved inscription on the base. It features an authentic, hand-scratched \"F. Carder STEUBEN\" signature. This is a classic \"courtesy signature\" personally applied by Frederick Carder late in life when advanced collectors brought his finest historic creations directly to his office or home in Corning, New York, to be authenticated. Item was purchased directly from Bob Rockwell at his Gallery in Corning NY.
Stunning Optical & UV Features:
• Daylight Elegance: The body features a vibrant, semi-opaque Jade Green coloration structured with a subtle, elegant spiral ribbing pattern. It is beautifully contrasted by an expertly applied Alabaster glass handle.
• Vibrant UV Glow: Crafted using Carder’s legendary uranium oxide formula, the Jade Green body fluoresces with an incredibly intense, fiery lime-green glow under standard UV blacklight (both 365nm and 395nm). True to authentic Steuben production, the Alabaster handle remains chemically inert, absorbing the UV light and standing out as a stark, dramatic silhouette against the glowing vessel.
