Finding a true first-month survivor that remains completely original is exceptionally rare, as most early wartime models suffered heavy use or parts swapping over the decades.Collector Details & Variants:
• Date Code: Clearly stamped 4 and 9 on the underside of the fount, firmly placing its manufacture date in September 1944. With the nickel restrictions due to the war efforts, this is the first non-nickel fount produced for the series, making it a rarer find.
• Collar Wrapper: Features the classic, cleanly stamped aluminum collar wrapper displaying the 242C model number, the authentic Coleman Sunrise logo, and Patent No. 2018832.
• Glass Globe: Outfitted with an original clear No. 550 Globe featuring the vintage red arched Coleman logo and "Made in U.S.A." text.
• Condition: 100% original, untouched condition. The green painted fount shows genuine vintage patina, with paint wear and surface rust spotting on the bottom plate as expected for an authentic 80+ year-old outdoor tool. The aluminum collar remains crisp with highly legible stamping.
