Limited Edition by Woodbank Press
John Keats (1795–1821) occupies a singular place in English Romantic literature. Although his literary career lasted little more than six years, he produced some of the most enduring poems in the English language, including Ode to a Nightingale, Ode on a Grecian Urn, To Autumn, and The Eve of St Agnes. His poetry, celebrated for its musical language, rich imagery and emotional intensity, continues to define the highest achievements of the Romantic imagination.
Drawing upon the worlds of classical antiquity, medieval romance and the natural landscape, Keats united lyrical beauty with philosophical reflection. His work explores the relationship between beauty and transience, imagination and reality, creating poems whose influence extends far beyond the Romantic period.
The Woodbank Press Edition
Published by Woodbank Press in a strictly limited edition of 25 numbered copies, this edition has been newly typeset in Brunel Text Roman No. 2, a typeface derived from the letterforms cut by John Isaac Drury for Elizabeth Caslon at the close of the eighteenth century. Its restrained neoclassical character makes it particularly suited to the literature of the Regency period.
The volume is printed on Fedrigoni Old Mill, an uncoated paper selected for its natural texture, warm tone and permanence.
Each copy is hand bound in leather with hand-marbled boards, a gilt-decorated spine, hand-marbled endpapers and a custom-made slipcase. The edition has been designed in the classical European tradition, with particular attention given to typography, proportion and craftsmanship.
Produced in a limitation of only twenty-five copies, the edition is intended to be read, collected and preserved.
