Beautiful set of four matching antique gilt metal furniture mounts or appliqués featuring an ornate French Louis XV / Rococo Revival style with scrolling acanthus and foliate details.
Each piece has an aged gold/brass-tone finish and wonderful naturally occurring patina and wear. The reverse of each mount is hand-incised with the initials “AM.” The meaning of the initials and exact maker are unknown.
Each mount weighs approximately 4–5 oz (140 g) and has a substantial cast construction. The exact metal composition has not been tested. Each one is roughly just under 6 inches in height.
These were sourced from an antique shop in the Netherlands and were likely originally used as decorative furniture hardware on a cabinet, armoire, commode, bed, or similar piece. Small mounting holes remain present.
