This is an extremely rare state-issued art portfolio of 9 prints in a folder from the Mozambican Revolution. It was printed to commemorate February 3rd 1969, “Day Of Mozambican Heroes”, marking the assassination of Eduardo Mondlane, the founding leader of the Mozambique Liberation Front (FRELIMO), who was killed by a parcel bomb, and April 7th 1971 “Day Of Mozambican Women”, marking the death of Josina Machel, a prominent anti-colonial fighter and women's rights activist who died in 1971 at age 25.
The prints feature powerful social-realist and anti-colonial political artwork. Several of the prints feature the "Minerva Central" imprint in small lettering in the lower-right corner. Minerva Central is the historic, oldest printing house in Maputo tasked by the newly formed independent government with creating its official propaganda, national media, and artist portfolios.
These measure 10 3/4” by 14 3/4”, and are overall in very good condition. I’ve taken photos of the front and back of each of these, please zoom in and examine them closely for flaws.
