Six Months in Kansas by Hannah Anderson Ropes, published under the author designation “A Lady,” is an 1856 Boston imprint from John P. Jewett and Co. documenting Kansas during the territorial period. This complete 231-page hardcover copy carries extensive Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library markings, giving it a direct institutional Kansas association. The book remains a readable copy of an early Kansas territorial account, with condition issues clearly noted below.
Fair to Good ex-library condition. Three-quarter leather over marbled paper binding is worn at the corners and along the edges, with slightly delicate external hinges; internal hinges are sound. There are extensive Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library markings. Writing and marks in pencil appear on the title page only. Several pages throughout the text have chips and tears, and page 79/80 is torn with an old yellowed tape repair. Text is complete. A worn but complete ex-library copy of an early Kansas territorial title.
