Wonderful story of Dan Garland working with a lumber crew in New Hampshire. Meader excelled at historical novels and this one gives unique perspectives on lumber crews and life life in rural New Hampshire during the turn of the twentieth century. As Meader notes in his forward, the story is somewhat autobiographical.
Copyright 1934, but this printing is from 1945 per copyright page (f5, 1945). Wartime notice posted. Lists to The Sea Snake (1943) on back panel of dj and has an advertisement for The Long Trains Roll (1944) on rear dj flap.
Book is in VG condition with a pencil mark on front pasted endpaper. Light wear to top/bottom of spine and book corners. Well bound. Paper, although from the war era, remains good and supple. DJ in good condition. Chipping to top/bottom of spine, and at corners. Several small tears and chipping to dj edges. Scrape/tear on the spine area where the tree is. I attempted to highlight some of the chipping in the close up photos. DJ is enclosed in a removable mylar cover. One great point about this book is that it is not ex-library. Many of Meader\'s books are typically found as ex-lib with consequent markings.Free domestic shipping via USPS media mail.
