Up for sale is a “one of kind” - 42 year old hand written letter from the early days of the Oingo Boingo Secret Society - on original OBSS stationary!
I was a huge Boingo fan as a kid. I received this response letter as a member of the Oingo Boingo Secret Society in 1984. Just after “Good For Your Soul” came out.
As a curious kid with a penchant for weirdness I asked 3 questions:
1) What is that cool artifact between Danny and Steve on the back of “Nothing To Fear”
2) What is the origin of the Boingo name
3) What’s the story about the backward masking on “Cry Of The Vatos”
I received a response from Darla Shelby “Assistant” and a core staff member of the official Oingo Boingo fan club. She managed the band's fan club operations, and handled secret society staff and merchandising.
This letter is special to me - but it’s also been sitting in a box for 42 years and I imagine a Boingo completist / fan may enjoy such a fun piece of musical history.
This is a very unique collectible item for a Boingo fan explaining some little known facts and satire about the band. I hope it can provide some level of time capsule enjoyment!
Gone are the days when you could receive a hand written letter such as this!!!
Super cool!
