Turn consistently. Improper turning is the #1 operator error in the field.
CANDLE AT DAY 10 — CHECKING FOR DUDS
Around day 10, shine a light through each egg in a dark room. You're looking for veining, movement, or a visible embryo — signs of a live package.
Clear egg = dud. No development, no veining — it's inert.

SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE ADVISORY (Wet Pen Eggs)
These eggs may arrive looking dirty. Do not attempt to clean them.
Mallards live near water. A little mud on the shell is normal. Washing removes the natural bloom — the egg's own protective countermeasure. You strip the bloom, you compromise the package. Leave it alone.
TROUBLESHOOTING (When Things Go Sideways)
Air cell too large → Increase humidity Air cell too small → Decrease humidity
Pipping begins around days 26–27. When the package starts moving — stand by and do not intervene.
⚠️ DO NOT CUT THE WIRE (Lockdown Protocol)
Do not open the incubator during the final 3 days. This is non-negotiable.
Opening that lid drops humidity instantly and shrink-wraps your ducklings inside the shell. You've come too far to lose the package on the last day of the mission.
ARRIVING ON SITE (Shipped Egg Tip)
Let eggs rest 24 hours after delivery — pointy end down — before setting. Shipped eggs need time to decompress. Respect the rest period.
POST-DETONATION CARE (Brooder Setup)
Once your ducklings blow the shell, here's your extraction protocol:
- Heat source required for 4–6 weeks
- Week 1: 95–100°F — drop ~5°F each week
- Provide shallow water only — they need to rinse bills but aren't cleared for deep water ops yet
EXFIL OPTIONS (Shipping)
Your call on the carrier. USPS Ground Advantage is solid. USPS 1–2 Day gets them moving faster if time-sensitive.

Hatch outcomes can be affected by shipping handling, incubator accuracy, temperature, humidity, and turning. These variables are outside my control once the package leaves the farm. What I can tell you is every egg leaves here fresh, fertility-checked, and packed by someone who takes quality seriously.
