Moe Howard filled out and signed this check to fellow stooge \"Curly Joe\" De Rita in 1963. It includes De Rita\'s endorsement on the back.
Check signed and endorsed: \"Moe Howard,\" 1p, 6x2¾. Hollywood, 1963 October 23. Filled out by Howard, payable for $93.80 to Joe DeRita who has endorsed the check: \"Joe DeRita\" on verso. Drawn on Moe\'s personal account at the West Hollywood Branch of the Bank of America. Following their success in vaudeville, Moe Howard, his brother Shemp Howard, and Larry Fine appeared in several Broadway revues and appeared in the film Soup to Nuts in 1930. Shortly thereafter, Shemp left the act to pursue a film career of his own and was replaced by his brother Curly. Curly left the act in 1946 after suffering a stroke and Shemp took his place. When Shemp died in 1955, he was replaced by Joe Besser who in turn was replaced by Joe DeRita as Curly Joe in 1959. This check was written during their feature film career. Stamping on verso indicates the check was cashed at the Universal Star Market. Fine condition.
