3/4 bound in Morocco with marbled endpapers. Bears bookplate of San Francisco architect William Charles Hays, with architectural subject matter. The art on the bookplate is the same as appears on the cover of the 1901-1902 edition of theCatalogue of the Annual Architectural Exhibition, a publication occasionally edited by Hays.
Additionally, has the elegant little bookseller import label of John Howell, a well-known dealer of Hays\'s era. Howell appears to have imported the book, and possibly to have bound it for Hays, who had numerous custom-bound and personalized books in his library. Tail of spine states \"London 1860.\"
