This 1991 issue of The Advocate is a 90 page pulp paper magazine devoted to news, stories, and lifestyles of the gay and lesbian communities. Although it is filled with the requisite ads for clubs and paraphernalia, it is far more serious politically than in the following years. This issue attacks discrimination and repression of gay men and women in the U.K. For these reasons, these early issues of The Advocate have become collectors' items.
