Noticeable wear to corners and spine ends, rubbing/marks to boards, and a significant split/tear along the front hinge/spine area as clearly pictured. Pages show expected toning/age discoloration. Particularly interesting examples visible in this copy include the Pyramid of Mayapan, an illustration of an Indigenous man and woman of Amatlan, a terra-cotta statuette identified as Quetzacoatl, and a large folding facsimile plan of Tenochtitlan executed shortly after the Conquest.The original binding is especially decorative, with gilt spine lettering and an illustrated gilt figure, plus a large gilt medallion design on the front board.The dedication is to Doctor E.-T.
