The Baker Street Journal Vols 1-3 Complete 1946-48 Signed Ephemera - Sherlock For Sale

The Baker Street Journal: First Series (Complete 1946–1948 Run, Volumes 1–3, Numbers 1–12)

Offered here is a complete first-series run of The Baker Street Journal, covering Volumes 1 through 3 complete (all 12 original quarterly issues published between 1946 and 1948). Edited by Edgar W. Smith and published by Ben Abramson in New York, this is a foundational cornerstone for any serious Sherlock Holmes collection.

• Contents & Interiors: All 12 original issues are present. The text blocks and interiors are exceptionally well-preserved: clean, unmarked, unfoxed, and complete with all original black-and-white plates, photographs, and drawings. There is some variation and toning across the issues as a result of the paper stock and manufacturing constraints of the immediate post-World War II period.

• Wrappers & Physical Condition: Bound in the original yellow card wrappers with striking vintage typography and cover graphics. The issues carry a clean, with no mustiness, moisture, or dampness.

• Condition Flaw: Eleven of the twelve issues feature somewhat worn but fully intact paper spines. The sole exception is Volume 3, Number 2, which has a missing spine strip on the lower half.

• Rare Association Ephemera: This lot includes a wonderful piece of provenance—an original certificate signed in blue ink by both publisher Ben Abramson and editor Edgar W. Smith, certifying a Dr. Danforth as a Friend of the Baker Street Irregulars and Affiliated Scion Societies.

A fantastic opportunity to acquire the complete foundational years of the BSJ accompanied by rare signed publisher ephemera.
