A handsome Victorian leather‑bound gift book with gilt decoration and brass clasp fittings. This copy carries a neat author’s inscription dated 1866, making it a desirable example for collectors of signed 19th‑century literature.
Binding:Leather boards with gilt decoration. The brass clasp has lost the catch on one side. The spine is splitting at both joints, rubbed, and worn at the top. Boards rubbed with age.
Condition:Externally worn but complete. Internally the pages are bright, neat and clean, with no spotting or damage — a very attractive text block. The author’s inscription is tidy and legible. A slight looseness to the binding due to the spine splits, but the book remains intact. There is an interesting Book Binders seal on the back internal Board.
A charming Victorian presentation volume with a genuine author signature, ideal for collectors of 19th‑century literature, antiquarian bindings, or signed books.
