U.S. Military M1878 Canteen. The canvas cover is stenciled \"U.S.\" on the front. All stitching is intact. Some stains due to age and use. There are faint markings on the reverse \"E\" and the number \"22\"
Two steel triangle shaped rings on each side of the canteen are intact. The original cork is in full form. Stopper retaining chain is intact. This pattern of canteen continued in use well into the twentieth century. Used between 1878-1902.
