3. Product Development Background

   • Airfix was founded in 1939 in London and became the pioneer of injection-molded plastic model kits in Europe.

   • In the early 1950s, post-war Britain sought to rebuild national pride, and Airfix capitalized on this sentiment by producing models of iconic British vehicles.

   • The RAF Emergency Set was introduced to celebrate the Royal Air Force’s vital role in national defense and civil rescue operations.

   • Designed in OO scale (1/76), it was intended to complement the popular British model railway systems of the time, such as Hornby.

   • The set symbolized both the technological progress of British manufacturing and the growing hobby culture among youth after WWII.

4. Rarity

   • Original 1950s Airfix production made entirely in England before overseas outsourcing began.

   • Very few examples survive in “dead stock” (unbuilt) condition, making complete sets exceedingly scarce.

   • Early code “A204V” identifies it as a first-generation release, highly valued by historical model collectors.

   • The original box artwork, showing RAF rescue vehicles, was discontinued in the early 1960s, further increasing rarity.

   • Represents an important transitional phase between Airfix’s hand-tooled molds and later mass-production class=\"MsoNormal\">

     • Authentic 1950s Airfix RAF Emergency Set featuring unassembled Fire Engine and Ambulance kits in OO scale.

     • Complete with all original parts and classic early box design, showing aging, discoloration, and light tears.

     • Purchased from a UK flea market; genuine dead stock condition, untouched for decades.

     • Perfect for vintage Airfix, RAF memorabilia, or historical model collectors.

     • A striking piece of British modeling history that captures the craftsmanship and post-war imagination of its era.
