Ultra Rare Original Frederic Remington Signed Engraving Chicken Seller: $5500.00
This is an ultra rare artwork art by Frederic Remington during his so-called dark period, before he achieved fame as an sculptor. Many collectors have or can acquire one of Remington\'s sculptures, however, it is very doubtful they will possess a similar piece. This is piece is from the original drawing that was done by Frederic Remington for the December 13, 1890 issue of Harper\'s Weekly. The image was plate engraved and then Harpers added 8 more images that were provided by Remington. The entire piece by Haper\'s consisted of 9 images that were titled \"Mexican Burden Bearers\". When Harper\'s Weekly join them to the line engraving/etching they added an annotation to the image and called it \"Chicken Seller\". I am not going to use the annotation chicken seller because the original engraving does not have any annotation period. According to the Remington Foundation, as Frederic Remington reputation grew he did not want to be associated with these works because of the negative connotations associated with them and he destroyed them by fire. Because of this, the Remington Foundation may not possess the original drawings which might explains why it does not exist in their catalog raisonne. I personally contacted Harper\'s Week.com(who now own the entire catalog of Harper\'s Weekly) and the representative said that this is a very rare piece because it is from the original single plate and because it is also hand signed. In fact, Harpers Week.com do not even have an original engraving that is hand sign and unannotated in their collection. If the Remington Foundation does not have the original drawing or plate in their collection and Harper\'s Week.com(Current owner of Harper\'s Weekly catalog) also does not have a piece like this that is hand signed. Therefore, this hand signed engraving is not just very rare but also considered an original work of art. Many people are familiar with Frederic Remington\'s sculpture however very few people are familiar with Frederic Remington\'s 1890 original Hand Signed Engraving. WOW!!! This is one very rare piece. The Remington Foundation asked that I submit this piece to have it authenticated to have it added to their raisonne\' which then gives them ownership. It is required that you pay fees to and give up your ownership to the Remington Foundation. The engraving measures 11 inches in height and 8.5 inches in width. The plate/image size measures 8 inches in height and 6 inches in width. What an outstanding piece of history to collect. Good Luck with your offer. Make your offer with FULL CONFIDENCE.
