Beautiful vintage Wise Smith’s Fur Shop of Hartford, Connecticut mouton / “beaver lamb” fur coat in a rich mahogany brown color.
This is a very substantial, heavy vintage coat with a dense, soft plush pile and classic mid-century styling. Mouton, historically also called “beaver lamb,” is processed lamb/sheepskin made to create the smooth, dense look associated with beaver fur.
Features include a plush wide collar, long sleeves, full-length silhouette, functional side pockets, decorative copper/bronze-tone metal buttons at each wrist, a large approximately 1.5” brown front closure button, and an additional button near the collar. The interior retains the original “Fashioned by Wise Smith’s Fur Shop – Hartford” label.
The coat is in very good vintage condition and presents beautifully. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description. Due to the age of the garment, minor signs of normal vintage use may be present.
