Original Old Shay De Luxe Beer & Ale lighted advertising sign from the Fort Pitt Brewing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
This is a Price Bros. cash register light dating to around 1940. The reverse-painted glass face features the Old Shay name, the slogan “For particular people,” and etched wheat and hop decoration around the outer edge.
The sign lights properly and has a great look when illuminated, with the red background and lettering showing especially well.
The rear is marked Fort Pitt Brewing Co., Pittsburgh, PA.
Condition is good overall for its age, but there is noticeable wear. The reverse-painted glass has areas of paint loss, including some loss within the Old Shay lettering and graphics, along with scattered scratches and smaller signs of use.
The gold-tone metal base shows tarnishing, oxidation, spotting, finish loss and general surface wear. Nothing has been cleaned or restored.
