Fabric

Wool tweed w/Donegal-style nep flecking in cream, rust, and brown.

Neps are spun directly into the yarn rather than printed, so the fleck color reads through on both faces of the cloth.

Besom interior pocket at left breast.

Vest back panel is cut from the same sateen lining fabric as the jacket interior.

Exterior:

Notch lapel, straight flap hip pockets on the jacket.

Functioning cuff buttonholes at both sleeves — true surgeon’s cuffs, each button independently operable.

Distinction

Working cuff buttonholes are true surgeon’s cuffs, a Savile Row hallmark tracing to 19th-century military field surgeons who needed to roll sleeves up mid-treatment.

Surgeon’s cuffs require the sleeve to be finished after fitting rather than pre-assembled, a construction standard rarely found outside higher-end tailoring.

Donegal-style nep flecking traces to County Donegal, Ireland, where irregular colored slubs were originally hand-spun into homespun tweed yarn.
