VTG Henry Disston & Sons 12" Backsaw Dovetail Tenon Spined Hand Saw 1917-1940Up for sale is a vintage Henry Disston & Sons backsaw with a 12" blade plate. The saw is marked Henry Disston & Sons on the spine and marked Disston on the medallion. Based on the medallion and its profile, this saw most likely dates from 1917 to 1940. Seems to have roughly 13 or 14 teeth per inch, see picture with ruler.
Handle is solid but does have two drill holes on the horn of the handle. Maybe a previous owner drilled them as hanger holes. Blade plate shows age and has some rust and patina, but overall is in good shape, straight, and will clean up nice. There is some etching left, but not great. See last two pictures. I took two pictures in different light, but the etching is hard to see. Saw needs a proper sharpening. Look over pictures well, as they are the best description.
