Originally compiled and edited by Olive Beaupré Miller, the collection was famously designed to "grow with the child," progressing carefully from simple nursery rhymes up to complex literary masterpieces, myths, and biographies.

• Book one has a front flyleaf torn out and some some child scribbles in the front. slight wear to the cover• Books two to six are very tight to open, too tight to have ever been read or opened. Their covers are in like new condition.• Book seven has covers that open a bit easier, so may have been read, In very good condition inside and out.• Books 8 to 12 are very tight to open, too tight to have ever been read or opened. Their covers are in like new condition.
