Vintage helmet mask from Zambia. This superior example of fine Batshioko craftsmanship is tightly constructed from sturdy cane and fibrous materials overlaid with dried clay and applied local pigments. The mask is 18 inches high, 9.5 deep and 11 inches wide.
It dates from the mid-20th century and derives from estate of a discerning collector of African ethnographic arts.
