This is a very rare medieval coin from the Kingdom of Castile and Leon, under the reign of King Henry III. The obverse shows the bust of King Henry III facing left. The reverse shows a castle in a beaded circle.
Henry III of Castile (4 October 1379 – 25 December 1406), called the Suffering due to his ill health was the son of John I and Eleanor of Aragon.He succeeded his father as King of Castile in 1390. Despite his nickname, King Henry III engaged in a vigorous foreign policy and manoeuvres during the first few years of the 15th century. He was able to pacify the nobility and restore royal power.
With very few known of its type, this coin is a unique piece of history.
