I am completely thrown by this tray. It is made of solid wood with hand carved stylised dolphins holding the handles at either ends.
Is it Arts & Crafts, Folk Art, Mid-Century? I don\'t even know if it is British, Scandinavian or Asian.
Research suggests all of the above, or maybe none.
Whenever it was made and wherever it came from, it is beautifully made and quite possibly unique.
The base is covered with rexine or leatherette and obviously has some wear. I don\'t know if that is original but I\'m hesitant to remove it. No maker\'s mark that I can find.
It measures 57 x 41cm and the dolphins have a height of approximately 8.5cm from the base.
