Mandel Brothers Chicago Label
We cannot find another example of this label.
We do know that Mandel Brothers was a very posh store, and we believe this was purchased as a private nurse uniform.
Uniform has bachelor buttons, which were still used in the early 1920s. Cut of dress also looks early 20s.
This uniform appears unworn.
The only flaw we can find is residue from the metal backs of the bachelor buttons on the fabric on the inside, as this hung in a closet for decades. We didn’t wash, iron or steam this garment. The label and paper tag are crisp.
Fabric is off white, feels like a very nice quality cotton linen blend.
Construction is extremely well done.
We believe this is a true unicorn. We cannot find another example anywhere.
