Vintage Johanna Spyri Heidi hardcover published by Grosset & Dunlap, New York, with a 1927 copyright and wonderful period illustrations, including a striking full-color illustrated title spread.
The green cloth hardcover features the classic Heidi title and Johanna Spyri lettering on the front and spine. This is an attractive older reading/collecting copy with plenty of authentic age and character.
Also included with the purchase is a vintage hardcover copy of Heidi Grows Up by Johanna Spyri’s translator, published by Grosset & Dunlap, with 1938 copyright. I’m essentially including this second book as a bonus companion volume rather than pricing the lot around it.
Both books are pre-owned vintage copies and show age and use. The green Heidi has visible cover staining/soiling, edge wear, page toning/spotting and previous-owner markings. Heidi Grows Up also has age toning and a previous owner’s name/address written inside. See photos for the best representation of condition.
