Vintage 1929 edition of \"Sign Painting Up to Now\" by Frank H. Atkinson. A comprehensive manual for the professional and aspiring sign painter. Published by F. J. Drake & Company, the book contains 249 pages: 96 sign designs and layouts with accompanying color notes, along with 75 alphabets covering a wide range of lettering styles. The pages are filled with period examples of lettering, typography, sign composition, and commercial graphics. The book was originally published in 1909 and became a longstanding reference for sign painters and lettering artists.The olive brown cloth covered boards feature the original multicolor Art Nouveau style cover design, with ornate lettering in red, green, black, and muted pink. The book shows substantial age and wear, including soiling and rubbing to the covers, worn corners, and wear along the edges and spine. The spine is somewhat loose but remains intact. The cloth covered boards show general age related wear, including rubbing, surface soiling, and wear to the corners and edges. Pages have some light creasing throughout and are mostly clean, with some handwritten notes present.
