A beautiful piece of early plastic history! This lovely 1930s–1940s antique brooch is crafted from smooth, cream-colored celluloid plastic molded into the shape of a folding hand fan. The front is decorated with delicate, hand-painted pink and red rose blossoms, green leaves, and tiny rosebuds along the accordion pleats. The reverse features an original brass safety pin catch that has developed a gorgeous, honest dark patina over the decades.
