Original men’s short-sleeve sport shirt believed to date from approximately the 1940s–50s.
The appeal is in the construction: a broad convertible camp collar, curved shoulder panels, an unusually long rectangular chest pocket and a box-pleated back. The lightweight ivory fabric has a subtle woven shadow stripe, with the stripe direction changed across the collar, shoulders, sleeves and pocket to quietly define the cut.
Finished with matching ivory buttons and an excellent multicolor woven neck label reading “Sportwear / For Town and Country.” No fiber-content or size label is present.
Size & Approximate Measurements
Likely fits approximately a modern men’s Medium, but this is only an estimate. Please compare the measurements with a similar shirt that fits well.
Shoulder: 17.75\"
Chest: 22\" across, measured underarm to underarm
Sleeve: 8.75\"
Length: 26.5\"
Measurements were taken with the shirt laid flat and are approximate.
Condition
Good, very wearable vintage condition, particularly considering its age. The top collar button is missing. The fabric shows small scattered areas of wear, faint age-related discoloration and light surface marks, together with normal softening and wear at the seams and edges. The woven label has minor age wear but remains bright and legible.
Please examine all photographs closely for the complete condition.
