Vintage 1945 L\'il Abner Dogpatch Band Tin Litho Windup by Unique Art Co Al Capp For Sale

This 80 year old colorful mechanical children\'s toy was released by Unique Art Manufacturing Company in 1945 and is based on the Al Capp comic strip which ran from 1934-1977. It features Li\'l Abner on the right, Daisy Mae playing the piano in the center, a small figure dancing atop the piano, and a drummer on the left, often identified it as \'Pappy\'. The mechanism used here is a side mounted wind up key to powers a clockwork mechanism that triggers synchronized, dancing and musical movements. That feature is currently not working. The tin lithography includes colorful artwork and sheet music. The sheet music is labeled \'Turnip Time by Li\'l Abner\' and references to Sadie Hawkins Day.The overall condition is excellent considering the age, with no rust, completely intact colorful detailed lithography. a couple missing pieces include the right arm of Abner, and the arm of the figure atop the piano. This does not in any way distract from its presentation, which would display well in a music room.Overall size of the toy is roughly 9\" x 6\" x 6\"
