Vintage 1946 Leitz Leica IIIF Black Dial 35mm FILM Camera w/ 5cm ELMAR & Meter For Sale

This appears to be a postwar Leica IIIC by serial number, converted to a Leica IIIF Black Dial. The serial number dates it to 1946-47 as a IIIc, but it's not that. It has 5cm Collapsible Elmar, Lens Cap, a Leica Meter (that works) and a leather Case.

It's in Very Good condition cosmetically---- it has an assortment of tiny picks and pits here and there, and one significant rub mark/scuff at the upper left and a slight depression in the same spot--- caused by the light meter usage over the years. Other than that, there's also a good amount of nicks, light scratches and blemishes on the bottom plate and some light wear at the corners. The vulcanite covering is also cracked in a couple spots on the back, but it looks like it's glued in place. So it's not mint, but it's still in pretty good shape.

Mechanically---- the shutter fires at the high speeds, somewhat well... I think, but the slower speeds, from about 1/30 on down--- they don't seem accurate at all or the cycling sticks and/or needs some help. But the fast ones sound pretty good--- although some seem to be the same speed. So, No guarantees on how accurate they are--- it definitely needs a CLA service to get it running properly. The curtains look very smooth an clean, and it winds fairly smoothly.

The Elmar Lens is in Excellent condition too---- no dents or deep scratches, with minimal fine scratches on the barrel, and otherwise very clean and crisp except for some light wear to the rim on the front. The glass looks great--- maybe a few specs inside and slight bit of expected haze, but it certainly should not offend a reasonable collector. Don't be expect it to be like new and you won't be disappointed.

The Rangefinder works--- is distinct and it lines up well, and the other viewfinder is clear. The Light Meter is VERY Worn, but it seems to be working. Pointing it a light source the needle bounces profoundly. I don't know how accurate it is, but I was surprised to find it working. The Case is rather beat-up, it has a couple repairs but it works to keep the camera protected.

So it's Far From Mint condition--- but it's still pretty nice and it has a lot of good points to it. That's all I know and can tell you.
