Vintage STETSON hat box in the classic teal body with a dark green lid band and white “STETSON” lettering. The lid edge has gold twisted cord trim. It is oval (head-shaped) and measures about 14.5” x 13” across by 7” deep.
It comes with both original cardboard inserts: the notched brim platform and the roughly 5” crown ring, which hold a hat in shape. Many of these boxes no longer have their inserts.
A period pencil note on the lid reads “DK GREEN FELT,” most likely the stock note for the hat that originally came in the box.
Condition: It shows honest age wear, as pictured. The teal paper has faded and blotched all over. There are small splits and creases on the lid top, minor paper tears and wear at the edges, a stain ring on the underside and some old tape inside. The box is still structurally sound, not crushed, and holds its shape well. Please see all photos, since they are part of the description.
