Vintage 1950s Susy Goose "It Really Sweeps" Toy Carpet Sweeper & Matching Dustpan Set
Up for sale is a charming, authentic mid-century Susy Goose Child’s Housekeeping Tin Toy Set, featuring the mechanical carpet sweeper and its hard-to-find matching tall-handle metal dustpan.
Manufactured in the 1950s by the Kiddie Brush & Toy Co., this set features iconic, colorful tin lithograph artwork by illustrator Peter Mabie. The sweeper head displays the classic graphics of Mother Goose flying with her cleaning gear alongside the nostalgic slogan, "It Really Sweeps".
Condition Details (Please review all photos):
• Graphics & Body: The tin litho graphics on the sweeper head remain vibrant with clear details. There is visible age-appropriate cosmetic wear, including surface scratches, paint chips, and areas of oxidation/rust on the metal edges and underside.
• Mechanical Function: The internal cylindrical bristle brush is intact and still rotates manually when the wooden wheels spin.
• Handles: Includes the original long red wooden handle on the sweeper and the twisted wire frame handle on the teal-lined dustpan.
• Dustpan: The companion metal dustpan shows surface rust on the rear panel and along the bottom rim, consistent with age and storage.
This is a wonderful, complete display piece for vintage toy collectors, mid-century advertising enthusiasts, or unique retro home decor.
