Too cool for school—and apparently too cool for an ordinary rectangular pencil case. This wonderfully ridiculous vintage case is shaped like one giant pencil, dressed in its best red-and-pink plaid, and finished with a zipper around the “eraser” end. Because obviously your pencils needed their own enormous pencil.
Condition
Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear.
Exterior shows scattered surface marks, scuffs and light discoloration consistent with age and use. Interior shows visible staining/marks and age-related wear. There is wear to the material around the zipper/opening area as shown in the photographs.
The zipper and case construction appear intact as pictured.
No maker or country-of-origin marking was found.

Description
Fantastic vintage novelty giant pencil-shaped pencil case, likely dating to the 1960s.
The long cylindrical body is covered in a wonderfully retro plaid pattern in shades of red, pink, black, white and tan. One end forms a pointed amber-colored pencil tip while the opposite end opens by way of a metal zipper.
Inside is a roomy cylindrical compartment for pencils, pens or other small school supplies.
This has exactly the sort of quirky mid-century schoolroom design that makes vintage everyday objects so much fun to collect.
