Beautiful set of four vintage textile placemats dating to the late 1970s, purchased in France or Italy. These have an ornate European/Mediterranean look with elaborate floral and scrolling designs in burgundy, gold, cream, blue and green.

The extensive metallic gold-tone embroidery/threadwork gives the pieces a particularly decorative, almost ecclesiastical or Renaissance-inspired appearance. The scalloped shaped edges and richly worked floral motifs make them attractive for vintage table décor, display, or textile collecting.
