Rare vintage Volvo dealership promotional display from approximately 1971 featuring seven Stahlberg Volvo model cars stacked vertically on the original “NOW THAT’S A HARDTOP” advertising base.
This unusual display was produced to demonstrate Volvo’s roof strength and features seven approximately 1:20 scale Volvo models in different colors mounted together on the original promotional plinth. The front reads:
“NOW THAT’S A HARDTOP. Every Volvo has six steel pillars supporting the roof. Each one is strong enough to hold up the weight of the entire car.”
Condition: This is a vintage original display and does have age-related wear and missing parts. Most notably, the white car at the very top is missing its roof/window/windshield assembly. Several of the cars are also missing rubber tires, and there may be additional missing small trim pieces/mudflaps. The base has typical surface/edge wear from age and display.
All seven cars are present and remain assembled in the stacked display configuration. The original advertising base is present and the graphics remain clear and display very well.
Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition and included parts. Due to the age and rarity of this piece, it is being sold exactly as pictured. No attempt has been made to restore, repaint, or replace the missing pieces.
An exceptionally unusual piece of vintage Volvo dealership advertising and a great display item for a Volvo collector, automotive advertising collector, or vintage promotional model collector.
Will be packed extremely carefully due to the size, age, and fragile nature of the display.
