This incredibly rare piece of Hawaiian history comes directly from a single-owner family estate, recently discovered in long-term storage.
Please note the original publisher’s price stamped on the title page: $110 plus tax. In 1976, this was an immense sum (over $600 today adjusted for inflation). These directories were never sold to the public. They were expensive, limited-run commercial databases made available to banks, utilities, and government offices. Because most were discarded when the next year’s edition arrived, surviving copies from this era are exceptionally scarce. Dimensions of Directory: 12 x 8.5 x 4 inches.
Condition and Binding Report (PLEASE READ):
Binding: The inner binding is loose/shaken due to the massive weight and size of this thick commercial volume. While the hinges are tender, all sections and pages remain attached to the binding structure. It must be handled with care, but it is fully readable and intact.
Pages: 100% complete. No missing pages, tears, or heavy stains. This directory is unpaginated. There are no page numbers. It is divided by alphabetical records and commercial classified sections.
Odor: Clean. No musty, moldy, or smoke smell.
Map Note: This specific edition did NOT come with a separate fold-out map. There are no signs of removal, torn pockets, or detached stubs. It was issued by Polk as a text only reference directory.
