Vintage 1979 Great Wall China Commemorative Souvenir Coin Token For Sale

This is a 1979 Chinese Great Wall souvenir medal (exonumia), created as a commemorative piece for tourists visiting Badaling or other restored sections of the Great Wall near Beijing following China\'s economic opening in the late 1970s.

• Obverse Design: Depicts a stylized view of the watchtowers and battlements along the Great Wall winding up the mountainside. Surrounded by the English text GREAT WALL CHINA and the date 1979 at the bottom.

• Reverse Design: Features four Traditional Chinese characters: 中國長城 (Zhōngguó Chángchéng), which translates directly to \"Great Wall of China\". The characters are framed by an ornate wavy border.

• Material & Composition: Struck in brass / bronze, often issued with a high-shine polished or lacquered finish.

• Context: Issued as a collectible non-monetary souvenir token rather than circulating currency, these were popular kept-in-capsule keepsakes sold at tourist sites and state-run Friendship Stores during the initial post-Mao tourism boom.
