A beautifully constructed, handcrafted mixed-media artisan ceremonial gourd by Rita Ray Irwin (Five Cat Basketry and Artworks.) This beauty features a highly detailed, complexity of materials; custom sea kelp wrapping (a distinct Pacific Northwest regional technique) genuine turquoise nuggets, mixed beads (bone, wood glass and horn) and pheasant feathers. The spotting is natural discolorations and mold scars that occurred while the cord was still drying on the vine (not considered damage.) This gourd is fully cured, clean and stable at age 30 years old. Signed in bottom as shown, see all photos for condition and details. Black cat print tracks on inside mouth/rim. Just a great specimen for the gourd collector (comes with original artist tag as shown.) Will ship with great care.
