The sash has delicate issues. I used some iron-on webbing which is shown in the background of the last photo, to reenforce the areas of the silk sash that have holes. It is still fragile but more stable this way. It is fine around the waist area, just where the silk is pleated towards the tassels is degraded some over the years from the folds.
Gorgeous fabric. You can see hand stitching on some of the seams and around the tag. A lot of care was put into this item. The department store began in the late 1800s and by the 40s had opened in Chicago and Paris. I love the small silk monogram. Beautiful piece
