I am so excited about this vintage ‘50s full A-line pleated midi skirt, which is one of many vintage skirts from the Warner Bros. Studios costume department in Burbank I have recently listed. You’ll see there’s a tag that says “Warner Bros. Pictures - D. Malone”; I can’t be positive, but this skirt was very likely wardrobe for Dorothy Malone, an actress at Warner Bros. in the ‘40s and ‘50s, appearing in The Big Sleep, Hollywood Canteen, Young at Heart, Sincerely Yours, and many more. She won the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for Written on the Wind in 1956; she also starred in the hit ‘60s television soap opera Peyton Place.
I am not sure which film or TV show the skirt appeared in, but I can say with certainly that it’s beautiful and well-constructed. The fabric is soft and has a nice weight to it; it feels like a wool blend. Waist measures 11 1/4 inches across, length is 31 3/4 inches from center of waistband to bottom hem. There isn’t a size tag, but it would best fit a modern U.S. Women’s XXXS.In excellent pre-owned condition. The photo of the model wearing the skirt was created with ChatGPT.
