Beautiful vintage Japanese Hakone Yosegi-zaiku (寄木細工) wood mosaic marquetry tray/display plaque, measuring approximately 9.25” x 5.5”.
Likely from the 1960’s - 1980’s.
This finely crafted piece features an unusually elaborate arrangement of multiple geometric mosaic patterns created from contrasting natural woods. Yosegi is a traditional Japanese woodworking technique associated with Hakone and Hatajuku, Japan, in which different woods are precisely assembled to create intricate repeating patterns.
