Very light stain on one or two, interiors seem excellent but note the inside front cover & FFEP\'s sometimes have staining or foxing (not sure), a couple seem to have lightly cracked bindings but binding is still very tight. One seems to have the FFEP attached to inside front cover. But overall in nice shape.
USPS Media Mail. Returns welcome only if we have mis-described the item.
Questions welcome, but we are selling these for a friend and are not experts on them or rare books.
The LakesideClassicsare an annual series of American historical books published each Christmas byR.R. Donnelley & Sons at the Lakeside Press in Chicago since 1903.
Early volumes heavily featured American historicaldocuments, speeches, and pioneer narratives, such as presidential inauguraladdresses, accounts of early Chicago, and western expeditions
Lakeside Classics is a series printed annuallyat Christmas-time by commercial printer RR Donnelley. The tradition began in1903 by Thomas E. Donnelley, son of the founder and president of the company atthe time. While the basic book format has remained essentially the same sinceinception — hardcover, cloth wrapped and gold embossed, the cover material andtype style are adjusted every 25 years in order to stay current withdevelopment in fine bookmaking. Other production methods are updated as manufacturingimprovements are introduced.
Lakeside Classics are only made available to RRDonnelley employees, clients, and others associated with the company. The weekbefore Christmas, each employee is given one copy of that year’s volume. TheLakeside Classics are never sold by the company, but some have found their wayinto the rare book market. Thus, because of their extremely limiteddistribution, Lakeside Classics are a true collector’s gem.
All Lakeside Classics are considered to befirst editions.
