Vintage pair of Acoustic Research AR-4x acoustic suspension speakers with walnut cabinets and original-style cloth grilles.

Both speakers were connected and tested and both produce music/sound. However, on one cabinet it appears that the upper/high-frequency speaker/tweeter may not be producing sound or may be very weak. It is somewhat difficult to tell during normal playback, and I have not opened the cabinets or performed any further diagnosis. Because of this, please assume that service or repair may be needed.
These vintage AR speakers use a rear high-frequency level control. Age-related issues with these controls can also affect tweeter output, but I have not diagnosed the cause of the issue on this pair.
Cosmetically they show considerable age and use. The walnut cabinets have scratches, scuffs, marks and general finish wear. The grille cloth is aged/discolored and one speaker has multiple holes/tears in the cloth, as shown. Rear paper labels are heavily aged, torn and partially deteriorated. Please review all photos closely for condition.
The AR-4x was produced during the classic Acoustic Research era and features an 8\" acoustic-suspension woofer and 2.5\" cone tweeter in a roughly 19\" x 10\" x 9\" cabinet.
