Vintage Antique 19th C Hand Embroidered Suzani Small Panel B308:

A gorgeous piece with silk and gold and silver metallic embroidery on a cotton ground from approx. 1870-1900. The layout features a symmetrical botanical composition featuring palmette, Ottoman tulip buds and feathered sickly leaves. It was likely created as a small panel fragment for an elite (wealthy) bridal dowry. It is either Ottoman or Uzbek - they share many elements. The gold and silver threads are real gold and silver wrapped around cotton threads. The handwork is extremely fine and the design is bold and beautiful. It is very unusual for having been designed to be a small suzani.
The condition is good for its age. The cotton is quite yellowed and there are some missing threads - nothing very significant. The colors are remarkably strong.
