Highly detailed vintage artisan-made Victorian lady dollhouse doll, dressed entirely in black period mourning attire and carrying a miniature black umbrella.This is a particularly well-made character doll with an expressive hand-sculpted and hand-painted face, individually modeled hands, gray styled hair, pearl-style earrings, a tiny gold-tone necklace, and an elaborate period costume.Her outfit features layers of black fabric, lace and pleated trim, dramatic puffed sleeves, a long fitted skirt, and an unusually large pleated black bonnet. She holds a closed black umbrella in one hand and is permanently posed on a round display base.The doll appears appropriate for approximately 1:12 scale and has the quality and character associated with higher-end artisan dollhouse figures.Maker: No visible artist signature has been located. The clothing fits very closely around the legs, and I have intentionally not disturbed or forced the original clothing in an attempt to search underneath, as doing so could damage the doll or costume.The sculpting and overall style bear similarities to work by noted miniature character artists of the period, including Marcia Backstrom, but no specific artist attribution is being made without a visible signature or documentation.There is an older pink handwritten sticker attached to the underside of the base. Part of the writing is obscured by remnants of another label; the number “250” appears to be written on the sticker. Please see photos.Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. The doll, hands, facial features, umbrella, costume, lace, and hat all appear well preserved. As an older handmade miniature, there may be minor dust, loose fibers, fading, or age-related wear.
