Available for your consideration is a beautiful, vintage Chinese hand-carved nephrite jade seal blank featuring a beautifully detailed mythical beast finial (Foo Dog / Pekingese). This piece has an incredible, documented family provenance tracking back a minimum of 65 years, originally purchased overseas directly by a military service member. Given the traditional stylistic elements, it is highly consistent with late Qing Dynasty to Republic period lapidary work.STONE CHARACTERISTICS & DENSITY:
The stone features a stunning, classic translucent grayish-green celadon base accented by intricate, natural webbed mottling of dark charcoal and russet skin. Weighing exactly 74 grams on a digital scale against its compact volume, the material\'s density aligns perfectly with the specific gravity profile of authentic, solid nephrite jade. It is remarkably cool to the touch with a soft, waxy luster.THE DESIGN & FORM:
The top features an expertly sculpted, crouching Guardian Lion (Foo Dog) whose flat snout, coiled stature, and stylized mane mirror the historical breeding traits of the imperial Pekingese. The base of the block is completely smooth and uncut—making this a pristine, unused \"seal blank\" that was never personalized or engraved by a previous owner.DIMENSIONS:
