Vintage Dr Pepper Lighted Advertising Wall Clock 10-2-4 Burgundy Tested Working : $299.99
Vintage Dr Pepper illuminated advertising wall clock featuring a burgundy case, contrasting silver-colored trim, white clock face, and orange-red oval Dr Pepper logo.Measures approximately 16 inches wide × 16 inches tall × 4 inches deep. The distinctive face highlights the famous 10, 2, and 4 advertising times with recessed numerals. Bold burgundy numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 and geometric hour markings give the clock a striking vintage appearance.ESTIMATED MANUFACTURING PERIODBelieved to date to approximately the 1970s, based on its oval Dr Pepper logo, styling, and construction. This is an estimated period, not a verified manufacture date. The highlighted 10–2–4 numerals reference an earlier advertising campaign and do not mean the clock was manufactured in the 1920s.TESTED AND WORKINGBoth internal bulbs illuminate properly. The clock has been operated and monitored for approximately two days and has kept accurate time during that test.CONDITION AND REPLACEMENT HANDVery good overall vintage cosmetic condition, with relatively few blemishes considering its age. The metal rear panel is particularly well preserved. There are some light scratches, scuffs, and areas of wear, as shown in the photographs.IMPORTANT: The original minute hand was missing and has been replaced with the red minute hand shown. This replacement is disclosed, and the clock is not being represented as entirely original. The clock is electrically powered through its attached cord. The rear panel retains its printed manufacturer information and hanging opening.DR PEPPER HISTORY AND THE 10–2–4 CAMPAIGNDr Pepper originated in Waco, Texas, in 1885, where pharmacist Charles Alderton developed the beverage at Morrison’s Old Corner Drug Store. One of the brand’s best-known advertising campaigns encouraged customers to “Drink a Bite to Eat at 10, 2 and 4.” Introduced in the 1920s, the campaign promoted Dr Pepper as a refreshing energy boost during the day.The idea drew on research then associated with Dr. Walter H. Eddy, which described daily energy dips around 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. Dr Pepper encouraged consumers to enjoy the beverage a half-hour beforehand—at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.Advertising writer Earle Racey developed the slogan in 1926. The 10–2–4 theme became a recognizable part of Dr Pepper’s identity, appearing on packaging, signs, and advertising clocks for decades. This clock’s highlighted numerals reference that longstanding campaign. An attractive working display piece for a soda memorabilia collection, vintage advertising display, game room, or home bar. Please review all photographs for condition and details. The clock pictured is the exact item offered.
